Born and raised in the Dolomites, with family roots in Puglia, Mauro has always lived between two worlds: the snowy silence of the mountains and the warm light of Southern villages.
Christmas is the moment when these two souls of Italy reveal their beauty most clearly and also the season he feels most connected to.

This journey brings them together.

From Alpine cathedrals glowing under winter skies to white-stone villages wrapped in golden lights, Intimate Christmas is a slow, immersive exploration of Italy’s most atmospheric winter towns, guided by someone who truly belongs to both regions.

Led personally by Mauro, this experience blends local knowledge, cultural storytelling, seasonal traditions, and heartfelt hospitality into a warm, meaningful, and unforgettable holiday journey.

It is a celebration of light, craftsmanship, food, community, and shared moments, experienced at the most intimate time of the year.

This tour has a minimum group size of 4.   If the minimum is not met at least 90 days before the departure date, the trip will be transformed in a private tour or canceled and refunds will be sent. You will receive a notification. 

Guests are welcome to arrive in Venice one or two days before the official start of the journey (December 3) to adjust to the time zone and enjoy the city at a relaxed pace.

Venice in early December offers a quieter, more intimate atmosphere, perfect for wandering along canals, visiting historic neighborhoods, and experiencing the city’s winter charm before heading to the mountains.

Both are conveniently located and well connected to public transportation and the main train stations.

Airbnb is also a viable option for those who prefer independent accommodations.

Guests arrive in Venice and meet the group before boarding a direct train to Bressanone. The scenic journey through northern Italy and alpine valleys introduces the relaxed rhythm of our winter adventure.

Upon arrival, we check in at the historic Hotel Elephant, located in the heart of the old town. In the evening, we enjoy our first walk through Bressanone’s Christmas market, where cathedral lights, wooden chalets, and seasonal aromas create a magical alpine atmosphere. This is our first taste of mountain traditions, craftsmanship, and festive warmth.

The morning is free to relax in Bressanone, enjoy a slow breakfast, explore local shops, or revisit the Christmas market at your own pace.

In the afternoon, we travel north by train to Vipiteno, one of the most charming medieval towns in the Alps. Surrounded by snow-dusted peaks, its pastel façades and arcaded streets create a storybook setting. During the holiday season, the main square fills with wooden stalls offering alpine crafts, traditional sweets, and warm spiced wine.

We’ll climb the iconic Zwölferturm tower for a breathtaking view over the glowing market and rooftops below. In the evening, we return to Bressanone, our alpine home, carrying with us the quiet beauty of this alpine winter scene.

Today we explore two of Trentino’s most authentic and atmospheric Christmas villages with a private transfer from Bressanone.

Our first stop is Rango, where traditional markets are set inside ancient barns, cellars, and stone houses. Here, local artisans display handcrafted ornaments, textiles, candles, and regional food products in a uniquely intimate setting that preserves centuries-old traditions.

After lunch, we continue to Canale di Tenno, a beautifully preserved medieval hamlet overlooking Lake Garda. Its narrow alleys and stone courtyards glow with lanterns and festive lights, creating a warm and timeless holiday atmosphere. In the evening, we return to Bressanone.

After a relaxed morning in Bressanone, we travel by train to Bolzano, the cultural capital of South Tyrol.

Set in Walther Square, Bolzano’s Christmas market is the largest and most famous in the region, blending Italian and Austrian traditions. Wooden chalets offer handcrafted gifts, spiced wines, festive pastries, and alpine specialties, creating a lively and welcoming holiday atmosphere.

Guests have free time to explore museums, arcaded streets, historic cafés, and local boutiques before returning to Bressanone in the evening for our final night in the Dolomites.

We depart early from Bressanone and travel to Verona Airport for our flight south to Bari, crossing Italy from the Alpine mountains to the Mediterranean landscape.

After landing, a private transfer brings us through olive groves and white-stone countryside into the heart of Puglia. We arrive in Locorotondo, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, renowned for its historic Christmas illuminations that transform balconies, stairways, and hidden courtyards into glowing ribbons of light.

We check in at our charming historic residence in the old town, where restored stone architecture and elegant interiors reflect the region’s heritage. In the evening, we enjoy our first walk through the softly lit streets, experiencing Southern Italy’s warm and intimate interpretation of Christmas.

Today we visit Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its iconic trulli houses. During the Christmas season, these cone-shaped stone dwellings are transformed into glowing storybook cottages, adorned with wreaths, garlands, and artistic light projections that illuminate the rooftops after sunset.

As we wander through the winding lanes of the Rione Monti and Aia Piccola districts, we experience a unique blend of history and festive charm. The white stone walls reflect the golden lights, creating an atmosphere that feels both intimate and magical.

We explore artisan workshops and seasonal markets, where handcrafted ornaments, ceramics, and local specialties celebrate Puglia’s craftsmanship. There is time to enjoy traditional sweets, warm seasonal drinks, and simply absorb the joyful yet relaxed rhythm of Southern Italy at Christmas.

In the evening, we return to Locorotondo, carrying with us the enchanting glow of the trulli under winter lights.

Our final full day takes us to Ostuni, the White City overlooking the Adriatic Sea, where winter light and Christmas decorations enhance the natural beauty of its whitewashed walls. During the holiday season, stairways, arches, and panoramic terraces are softly illuminated, creating glowing viewpoints and intimate festive scenes.

With a guided walk through historic quarters, artisan shops, and small churches decorated for Christmas, the town reveals a quieter and more reflective side. Free time allows everyone to wander, photograph, and absorb the gentle rhythm of Southern Italy’s winter traditions.

In the evening, we return to Locorotondo for our farewell dinner in the heart of the old town. Surrounded by softly glowing lights and quiet stone alleys, we gather to celebrate not only the flavors of Puglia, but also the friendships, stories, and moments shared along this journey. It is a warm, heartfelt evening filled with laughter, gratitude, and connection, where the spirit of Intimate Christmas comes full circle.

After breakfast, we transfer to Bari Airport, where our official journey together comes to an end.

From here, guests are free to continue their travels independently, using Italy’s efficient high-speed trains to reach Rome, Milan, and Venice, or regional and domestic flights to other destinations. A direct flight from Bari to Venice is the most time-efficient option for those returning north, while others may choose to extend their stay and explore more of Italy at their own pace.

While our program concludes in Bari, the memories, friendships, and shared moments created along the way continue well beyond the final goodbye, carrying forward the true spirit of Intimate Christmas.
